Blast from the Past Series: 2017 DNFs

Happy Wednesday y’all and welcome to another edition of my Blast from the Past series! Today we’re going to talk about the books I DNF’d in 2017- Oof I feel like this list is going to get some hate because I DNF’d some reallllyyyy popular books back in 2017. Please don’t hate me too much. I generally try to finish every book I start or I put it aside for a while and then get to it later, but these 4 books are ones that I tried and I just couldn’t keep going with (but as always, these are just my opinions and I know others have loved all of these books so much, so if you haven’t picked them up yet, for sure give them a try!)

Bone Witch– I tried so hard to like this book, but the switching timelines kept throwing me off and I hated not really knowing where I was and when I was. I also wasn’t a huge fan of the style of the writing, but I know A LOT of people who loved this book, so I know it’s one of those ones that might just not be for everyone.

Nevernight– Ah yes, this one and the next one are the ones that are probably going to be my most controversial DNFs. I just couldn’t get into Nevernight no matter how much I tried! I like Jay Kristoff’s books that he’s written with Amie Kaufman (The Illuminae trilogy is amazing and I loved Aurora Rising a lot), but NN bored me so freaking much.

The Night Circus– Oof the Night Circus. This is one of those books where I just felt as though nothing happened. Like I read maybe 1/3 of the book and nothing was going on so I skipped ahead and still, nothing was going on! And it really didn’t seem like the author cared about her characters at all! Definitely for some people, 100% not for me.

Neverwhere– This was one of those books that I apparently started, and I know I didn’t finish it, but do I remember anything at all about it? Absolutely not, and honestly, I think that’s all there is to it.
