ARC Review: Happy Singles Day by Ann Marie Walker

Thank you so much to Sourcebooks Casablanca and to Netgalley for letting me read an e-ARC of Happy Singles Day! I’ve been single on Singles Day (February 15th, the day after Valentines day) for a very long time, so I thought it was super cute to have a book where the main character was celebrating it. Plus, the book is set in the Outer Banks, and your girl loves the NC coast. This book came out on January 19th, so definitely run to go read it!

Happy Singles Day 4/5 Stars

Summary from Goodreads:

Single and proud of it! Oh, oops…

As a Certified Professional Organizer, everything in Paige Parker’s world is as it should be. Perfect apartment, perfect office, perfect life. And now, the perfect vacation planned to honor Singles Day. After all, what’s better than celebrating her pride in being single? Because who needs a man anyway? They have zero taste in quality television, leave the toilet seat up, and sleep with your best friend. No thanks. Her life is fine just the way it is.

As the owner of a now-dormant bed & breakfast, Lucas Croft’s life is simple and quiet. It’s only him and his five-year-old daughter, which is just the way he likes it. Because who needs a woman anyway? They nag you to clean up your stuff, want the toilet seat put down, and expect the dishes to be done the same day the meal is cooked. No thanks. His life is fine just the way it is.

But when Paige books a room that Lucas’ well-intentioned sister listed without his knowledge, their two worlds collide. If they can survive the week together, they just might discover exactly what they’ve both been missing.

I loved so much about this book! I loved Paige and Lucas and Sophie and Maddie so much! They were such great characters- it was really easy to relate to the pain of losing someone like Lucas had even if you hadn’t lost your spouse, it was really easy to relate to the betrayal of having your fiancé cheat on you like Paige had even if you haven’t ever been engaged or cheated on. I thought having Lucas and Paige find each other through the B&B that Lucas and his late wife had bought and renovated was both sad and cute. Paige being so organized and such a workaholic and having internet or power for a couple of days sounds like a nightmare, but having Lucas and puppies there made it sound like a great mini retreat! Samuel was also such a great assistant/best friend for Paige. I really want there to be more books in this series because I’m not done with Aurelia Island or Sophie or Sam. Overall, this was a really cute book about giving love a second chance and finding love where you least expect it, and it was definitely a great read!
