Blog Tour: Shadow and Bone and Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

Happy Friday y’all! OMG I am the most excited about this post/my stop on this tour today!!!! Terminal Tours has partnered with Henry Holt Books for Young Readers (the wonderful publishers) for this amazing tour to feature the new Netflix tie in covers of Shadow and Bone and Six of Crows! And y’all, take a minute to just appreciate how gorgeous they are-

Shadow and Bone

Summary from Goodreads:

Soldier. Summoner. Saint. Orphaned and expendable, Alina Starkov is a soldier who knows she may not survive her first trek across the Shadow Fold–a swath of unnatural darkness crawling with monsters. But when her regiment is attacked, Alina unleashes dormant magic not even she knew she possessed.

Now Alina will enter a lavish world of royalty and intrigue as she trains with the Grisha, her country’s magical military elite–and falls under the spell of their notorious leader, the Darkling. He believes Alina can summon a force capable of destroying the Shadow Fold and reuniting their war-ravaged country, but only if she can master her untamed gift.

As the threat to the kingdom mounts and Alina unlocks the secrets of her past, she will make a dangerous discovery that could threaten all she loves and the very future of a nation.

Welcome to Ravka . . . a world of science and superstition where nothing is what it seems.

Look at Alina and her being the badass sun summoner that she is! Look at that gorgeous (and ominous) green smoke in the background and creeping around. Look at her hands and her kefta and the way the font is! Man, I love everything about this- but you know what I love even more than the Shadow and Bone cover? The Six of Crows cover.

Six of Crows

Summary from Goodreads:

Ketterdam: a bustling hub of international trade where anything can be had for the right price—and no one knows that better than criminal prodigy Kaz Brekker. Kaz is offered a chance at a deadly heist that could make him rich beyond his wildest dreams. But he can’t pull it off alone. . . .

A convict with a thirst for revenge.
A sharpshooter who can’t walk away from a wager.
A runaway with a privileged past.
A spy known as the Wraith.
A Heartrender using her magic to survive the slums.
A thief with a gift for unlikely escapes.

Six dangerous outcasts. One impossible heist. Kaz’s crew is the only thing that might stand between the world and destruction—if they don’t kill each other first.

Look at them. Look at Inej and her dagger. And Kaz and his crow cane and his hands folded over it. And Jesper and his guns and that little smirk on his face. They’re perfect.

Now, let’s talk about the incredible package I received from the publisher for this blog tour- did y’all see those “Welcome to the Grishaverse” boxes on social media around April 23 (when the show was releasing) with that adorable suitcase, the Netflix adaptation cover versions of Shadow and Bone and Six of Crows, a letter, a scarf, a mug, some tea, some stroopwafels, some slippers, a sleeping mask, and some chocolate babka? Wellllll look what your girl got:

It was the most exciting day and I loved opening it- unfortunately, somehow my box was packed without the babka (which, besides the books, was the thing I was most looking forward to) and my copy of Six of Crows got the tiniest rip in the back cover because of how tightly the ribbon was wrapped around it, but this was still the coolest book package I’ve ever gotten!

For my post for these new covers, I created a journal spread, and y’all I don’t normally do journal spreads because I know myself and how much of a perfectionist I want to be about everything (I made a rough draft in pencil in one notebook and went over that in pen and colored pencil to decide if I liked it before I created my final version in a totally different notebook), but I’m really happy with how some things turned out! Like my stag- it’s the best one I’ve ever made! The + symbol I made in between Matthias and Nina’s name was supposed to be a waffle and it was such a mess that I just filled it in haha I’m so excited to show it off to y’all and I cannot wait to hear any and all comments y’all may have!!!

I’m definitely so excited to re-enter the Grishaverse by rereading all of these books and I think these are the perfect versions to do that with! Let me know what y’all thought of Shadow and Bone (the book and/or the TV show!) and Six of Crows! Also, if you’re a regular book journaler, please let me know your ways, because man, this was intense!

  1. This is so so pretty, Avni!
I read the books last month for first time; perfect time, for the day I finished ‘Crooked Kingdom’ the series was on floor. I was jumping with excitement throughout the episodes not lying. I do preferred the Six of Crows duology over ‘Grisha Triology’ books but the series was really great! Not at all underwhelming, though I think Kaz is way more sassier than the one portrayed in the series but then again that might be my high ‘Kaz-fever’ speaking 😉 Also the cast was “chef’s kiss” perfect. I absolutely love and adore them all, gods. I have never waited for season 2 of any series with such intensity, to conclude.
