Man y’all, I’m thinking through all of the 2021 review blogs I want to write and there are a lot of them, so I think I’m going to create a series for them- hopefully I’ll be done by the middle of February, but who knows how quickly I’ll be able to write them (and the middle of February is of course assuming I publish like one a week).
Anyway, let’s talk general stats today! In 2021, my reading goal was 80 books and I ended up reading 171 books, which was way over what I planned and expected! So that’s super exciting!
Let’s start by talking about my reading formats.
Once again, I read more ARCs than anything else. I ended up reading 113 ARCs. Most of these were on Netgalley, but I also did a lot of blog tours last year, so I got some ARCs through those as well! My next largest category of books were library books. My local library is the best, and I read 24 books from there in 2021- both ebooks and physical books. I read 18 books I owned, 13 audiobooks, and 3 books from Scribd (although all 13 of my audiobooks were also from Scribd too).
Now let’s talk genres. I mainly stuck to the big ones: YA Fantasy/Sci-fi, Romance, YA Contemporary/Thriller, and Adult Fantasy/Sci-fi
Before I started compiling these stats, I was 100% sure that I was going to have read more romance than anything else, but I read 2 more YA fantasy/sci-fi books in 2021 than I did romance (75 vs 73). I was really into YA thrillers in 2021, and I can 100% see that continuing into 2022. And of course I read some adult fantasy/sci-fi.
I’m not going to talk about any of my favorites (yet) because those are going to be other posts, but overall it was a really great year and I’m sure 2022 is going to be just as amazing!
