Happy Thursday y’all! I was hoping to be able to write my Iron Widow review for y’all today, but unfortunately, I haven’t finished the book yet, so we’re just going to have to wait another day on that and instead, y’all are going to be getting a Netgalley update today! I have so many amazing books waiting for me on there (and not a lot of time to read them) so let’s get to talking about all the books I have! Also, side note, my current feedback ratio is 78% and I’m really proud of that hahaRead More »
It’s Election Day in America and man y’all, this election is a big one. Not only are we voting for a new president, a lot of states are voting for local representation, and in North Carolina, where I am, we’re voting for our Governor and one of our two Senators- and they’re important races (we can help flip the senate if we vote Thom Tillis out!), and as usual, we’re a battleground state. We’ve been a swing state that leans slightly red for as long as I can remember, but we’re always close, so we always get lots of visits from both candidates and their entourages and this year was nothing different. But, that ends up leading to a lot of stress around election time, and this year more than others. I know people all over the country are feeling the same way, so I put together a list of 5 of my favorite books to read to take your mind off of the election for a little while.
I feel like I talk about all of the cool ARCs I get to read (and I know I’m super privileged to be able to read so many of them!), so I figured why not talk about all of the ones that I got rejected for on NetGalley. I’m sure I was rejected for others in other ways, but I don’t remember those, so since I have records of these, we can definitely do them!Read More »
Happy August y’all! I haven’t written a wrap up post in so long but this month I was like you know what, I read so many great books in July- I have to talk about them! I’m going to have reviews going out about some of these books later this month, so keep an eye out for those (I’ll make sure to call them out). Let’s get started!Read More »
Happy Thursday y’all! This year, I’ve been really bad at making sure that my read books actually match up with the books in my reading challenge on Goodreads- like my Goodreads says that I’ve only read 41 books, but in reality, I just finished book number 81 yesterday, which is crazy! Most of the time, my issue is just that I don’t feel like opening up Goodreads and finding the book I’m reading on there to state that I’m reading it, but writing it in my reading progress note on my phone/laptop is so easy!
Let’s go ahead and compare what’s on them, shall we? Read More »
Hey y’all! I’m so fortunate to live somewhere where there’s an amazing library so close to my house! The Chapel Hill Public Library is less than 5 miles from my house and they have so many physical copies of books and their e-book library through overdrive/Libby is AMAZING as well! It’s definitely made it so much easier for me to read as much as I do- I’ve checked out/read 42 e-books so far this year and 3 physical books and I have 11 books on hold right now (5 physical and 6 e-books) and 8 books checked out (5 physical and 3 e-books). (Also, I know if you follow me on Goodreads, you’re going to notice that it doesn’t have me having read over 42 books yet this year- I’ve actually read 79, but I haven’t been keeping up with putting them all into Goodreads, so I need to make sure to go in and do that at some point soon…)
You know what I love doing? Rereading books. Like don’t get me wrong, I love reading new books for the first time too, but there’s just something so special about rereading one of your favorites, and this July through December, I have quite a few rereads planned, so I figured why not share them with y’all! Let me know if y’all have any rereads planned for the rest of this year too!Read More »
This year, I’ve read so many more romance novels than any other year in the past and it’s been so great for my mood and happiness (but, man, has it made me feel more single than ever, but that’s another story all together. I’m all over all of the dating apps though, so if y’all ever want to hear about the mess that is my dating life, let me know). Since everyone could use more happiness and romance in their lives, I figured why not give you guys my top 3 romance novels of the year so far! So let’s get at it!Read More »
Hey y’all! I’ve gotten approved for a lot of books recently (and of course I grabbed some of those “Read Now” books from Wednesday Books last week) so now I have 10 books on my NetGalley to read shelf, so I figured that it was time to give y’all an update of what’s coming/what I’m going to be reading soon! Hey y’all! Happy July 4th! It’s America’s birthday! Even though the US is 244 years old as of today, it sometimes seems as though we’re living through our teenage rebellious years because we don’t seem to be listening to experts/it doesn’t seem like we care that much about the lives of all of our citizens (have you seen the mess we’ve made of our reaction to the Corona virus and the fact that we’re killing Black and brown people at disproportionate rates?) At least it seems as though we’re making some progress, so maybe we’re learning (slowly but surely). I do love being an American though, so I’m celebrating (at home because I fractured a bone in my foot and I’m in a boot, and again, hello global pandemic) and I’m 100% wearing my red, white, and blue today and my dog has his American flag bandana on.
Today, I figured that I’d feature some of my favorite reads this year that were set in the US. I was going through Goodreads to see which books were actually set in the states and not in different world (based on the US or not) or a different country and of the 36 books I’ve read so far this year, 19 of them are set here, so that’s pretty good. It’s 100% because I’ve read so many romance novels this year, but I’m not going to look a gift horse in the mouth. So here we go:Read More »
