Book Review: A Sky Beyond the Storm by Sabaa Tahir

Oh man y’all, we’re finally here. I finally finished this series that pretty much killed me. The first time I read An Ember in the Ashes, it was because Bee (my best friend and a huge part of Avni Reads, if you’re new around here) told me I had to. This was after both Ember and Torch were out, so I read them both, and OMG I was so hooked. Then when Reaper came out, Bee and I went to Sabaa’s signing and it was amazing and fun fact! You know how one of the Jaduna in Sky is named A’vni? Well, that’s because Sabaa liked my name! When she was signing my books, she asked me if Avni meant anything (it’s Hindi for earth and it’s derived from Sanskrit) and she made the person from Flyleaf books (my local Indie) give her an extra sticky note to write it down, so I was very excited to see a version of my name in there! Ok, but enough about that. Let’s talk about how much I loved this book instead!

ARC Review: Lore by Alexandra Bracken

Ahhhhhhh y’all! Lore was one of my absolute favorite reads of 2020 and I cannot wait to tell y’all all about it and why you need to grab it/read it when it comes out tomorrow! Thank you so much to Disney-Hyperion Books and Netgalley for letting me read Lore early. I had been looking forward to Lore for the longest time and I love everything about Greek mythology, so i knew I was going to enjoy it, especially because I love Alex Bracken’s writing, but man, I didn’t realize just how much I was going to love it!

Blog Tour: Queen of Volts by Amanda Foody

OMG y’all- thank you sooooooo much to Inkyard Press for asking me to be a part of the Queen of Volts blog tour (and their Fall Reads Blog tour in general)! And thank you so much to Inkyard and Netgalley for letting me read a copy of it early! Queen of Volts came out last week, on September 1st, with about a million other books, so make sure you go check it out! I absolutely loved Ace of Shades and King of Fools, so I knew I was going to love Queen of Volts, but did I know just how much I was going to love it? Definitely not. Now, just as a warning, since Queen of Volts is the third book in this trilogy, there are going to be spoilers for books one and two in my review, so if you haven’t read Ace of Shades or King of Fools, one, what are you doing? Go read them now! And two, you probably don’t want to read my review for Queen of Volts.

Blog Tour: Star Daughter by Shveta Thakrar

mail-chimp-banner-19-1Hey y’all! I’m so excited that I got to be a part of the book tour for Star Daughter by Hear Our Voices Book Tours! This is my first tour with them and they’re such a great company to work with, so I really hope to do more tours with them in the future! So, for my post, not only am I going to write a review for y’all, I’m also going to give y’all 15 thoughts I had while reading the book, so I’ll try to keep it as spoiler free as possible in that section. I’m thinking that format wise, I’m going to give you my rating first, then the summary from Goodreads, my review, and then end with my 15 thoughts. Also, thank you so much to Hear Our Voices and the publisher, Harper Teen, for giving me a free ARC to read and review for this!

ARC Review: The Lucky Ones by Liz Lawson

Hey y’all- how’s everyone in the US’s third official week of self isolation going? They’ve been working on re-paving the road outside my house for the past week almost (since last Wednesday), so that’s been a little loud and annoying, but besides that, things have been slowly but surely getting a little bit more normal. The dog is getting used to us being home all the time, which he’s not super happy about haha- he just wants to be left alone- and I’m finally finding the balance between working and doing other things like reading, working out, and watching TV (and ensuring that all the TV I watch isn’t just corona virus related news coverage, but I’ll write another post about the TV I’m watching). One of the books I finished recently was the Lucky Ones by Liz Lawson- thank you so much to NetGalley and Delacorte Press for giving me the opportunity to read and review an early copy of this book!
