First Line Friday: August 7, 2020

first-lines-friday

Happy Friday y’all! Today’s first line is a little later than normal because I went and made/ate sushi with my brother and sister in law today, so I had no time to write this one this morning! I should probably get better about writing my First Line Friday posts in advance, but I’m so bad at preparing these. Let’s see, what all updates do I have from last week… not much really… I went on a second date with the boy, but we haven’t talked much since then because he started a new rotation at work. I read a bunch of books. OH and this isn’t an update about last week but it is an update! I’m going to be posting a special post on Sunday, so make sure you keep an eye out for it- it’s going to be

First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?

  • Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
  • Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
  • Finally… reveal the book!

Now, onto the line!Read More »

First Line Friday: July 24, 2020

first-lines-friday

It’s Friday again! Woop woop! I hope everyone’s been having a pretty good week- mine has been pretty decent… nothing too special, but I have been jamming out to Taylor Swift’s new album today and I made my friend Grace an amazing Spotify playlist earlier this week, so that was fun (if y’all are interested in knowing what’s on Grace’s playlist or on the birthday playlist I made Bee last week, drop me a comment and maybe I’ll make a post about them next week!)

July Library Holds and Checkouts Update

Hey y’all! I’m so fortunate to live somewhere where there’s an amazing library so close to my house! The Chapel Hill Public Library is less than 5 miles from my house and they have so many physical copies of books and their e-book library through overdrive/Libby is AMAZING as well! It’s definitely made it so much easier for me to read as much as I do- I’ve checked out/read 42 e-books so far this year and 3 physical books and I have 11 books on hold right now (5 physical and 6 e-books) and 8 books checked out (5 physical and 3 e-books). (Also, I know if you follow me on Goodreads, you’re going to notice that it doesn’t have me having read over 42 books yet this year- I’ve actually read 79, but I haven’t been keeping up with putting them all into Goodreads, so I need to make sure to go in and do that at some point soon…)

First Line Fridays: July 10, 2020

first-lines-friday

Happy Friday y’all! This has been a busy week for me- lots going on, so I didn’t have time to prep this First Line Friday in advance, but I knew exactly which book I wanted to feature, so that’s a plus!

Social Distancing Reading Update March 23

Hey guys, as the corona virus spreads throughout the world, here in North Carolina, we started implementing social distancing last week and my office told us to work from home starting last Monday and things have been… harder than expected. I thought I’d be able to have fun and hang out at home, read all the books, learn some new hobbies, stuff like that- instead I’ve been working for pretty much my full 8 hours every day, my dog has been freaking out multiple times a day because he wants his independence and alone time back, and there’s no time for anything else pretty much because I’m exhausted after work. (Now, I don’t want any of this to sound like I’m complaining too much, because I’m mostly healthy, and while I do have asthma, it’s not bad and I’m taking really good care of myself and I’m super privileged that I don’t have to go into work or work crazy hours, so I know it could be worse and I’ve heard the horror stories and I’ve talked to the people working at the grocery stores when I go out to replenish supplies, and they’ve been seeing the worst in some people recently.)

BUT the main topic of today’s blog is my reading update for this time of social distancing! Read More »

What I’m reading right now- Feb 17

Happy mid February y’all! I feel like I’ve been posting a lot of reviews recently, but I haven’t posted any updates, so I wanted to give y’all an update of what I’m reading. If y’all have been around here for a while, you know I read a lot of different books at once- right now is no different. I’ve got an ebook from the library, an ebook on my kindle app, a netgalley earc, a physical arc in my bedroom, a paperback by my couch, and an audiobook for the car, so phew, lots going on!
