Hello December! This is one of my favorite months of the year because the holiday spirit is so much fun! Christmas isn’t even my holiday (my family is Hindu, so our biggest holiday of the year, Diwali, is normally in either October or November, depending on the lunar calendar), but I love the way it’s been commercialized over the years and I love the decorations and the food and the drinks and the fuzzy socks! Like I have santa fuzzy socks, reindeer fuzzy socks, Christmas tree fuzzy socks, polar bear fuzzy socks, etc (it’s close to a problem…). I’ve already made an ornament wreath to decorate the mantle and I’m going to putting up the Christmas tree sometime this week! I love eggnog (but don’t put any rum in mine, because the smell of rum makes me gag- one too many bad experiences as a young 20 something year old) and spiced cider and hot chocolate- especially peppermint hot chocolate! And Christmas cookies! I love all the Christmas cookies!
Now that you’ve heard me gush about how much I love December and the holiday season, let’s talk about something else I’m really excited for this month- reading. I’m back into the swing of things reading wise (was I ever really out of it?) and I have so many books to read and so little time to read them (aka only 29 more days)! Thankfully, I’ve already blown my 2020 Goodreads goal out of the water (which is both a good and a bad thing, because I had purposefully lowered it this year to try and focus on other things, like dating and making new friends, but the pandemic 100% killed that, so I ended up reading more books than I’ve ever read before, and I still have a whole month left to go), so I’m not targeting a specific number of books this month, but I do have some ARCs I need to get through, some rereads I want to do, and a few library books to get to, so let’s get started on my TBR!
Happy Friday y’all! Today’s first line is a little later than normal because I went and made/ate sushi with my brother and sister in law today, so I had no time to write this one this morning! I should probably get better about writing my First Line Friday posts in advance, but I’m so bad at preparing these. Let’s see, what all updates do I have from last week… not much really… I went on a second date with the boy, but we haven’t talked much since then because he started a new rotation at work. I read a bunch of books. OH and this isn’t an update about last week but it is an update! I’m going to be posting a special post on Sunday, so make sure you keep an eye out for it- it’s going to be
First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?
Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
Happy August y’all! I haven’t written a wrap up post in so long but this month I was like you know what, I read so many great books in July- I have to talk about them! I’m going to have reviews going out about some of these books later this month, so keep an eye out for those (I’ll make sure to call them out). Let’s get started!Read More »
Hey y’all! Happy Thursday! I hope everyone’s had a good week so far! It’s almost the weekend- woop woop! I don’t have too many plans for this weekend- I’m just planning on watching some TV, reading, maybe (hopefully) trying to workout some, and hanging out with the fam- but the TV and the reading is what’s inspiring this post! I’ve been re-watching Criminal Minds on Netflix these days (as one of the like 3 things I’m watching) and since I love Criminal Minds so much, I figured why not write about Criminal Minds and my favorite YA murder mysteries- anything by Karen M McManus! So what I’m thinking is that I’ll write about 2 character from Criminal Minds and then about one of Karen M McManus’ books and then I’ll do another 2 characters and then another book and then I’ll end with my last set of 2 characters and my last book (because, unfortunately I don’t have an ARC of the Cousins, I haven’t read it yet, so I’ve only read 3 of her books). Happy Thursday y’all! This year, I’ve been really bad at making sure that my read books actually match up with the books in my reading challenge on Goodreads- like my Goodreads says that I’ve only read 41 books, but in reality, I just finished book number 81 yesterday, which is crazy! Most of the time, my issue is just that I don’t feel like opening up Goodreads and finding the book I’m reading on there to state that I’m reading it, but writing it in my reading progress note on my phone/laptop is so easy!
Let’s go ahead and compare what’s on them, shall we? Read More »
Hey y’all! I’m so fortunate to live somewhere where there’s an amazing library so close to my house! The Chapel Hill Public Library is less than 5 miles from my house and they have so many physical copies of books and their e-book library through overdrive/Libby is AMAZING as well! It’s definitely made it so much easier for me to read as much as I do- I’ve checked out/read 42 e-books so far this year and 3 physical books and I have 11 books on hold right now (5 physical and 6 e-books) and 8 books checked out (5 physical and 3 e-books). (Also, I know if you follow me on Goodreads, you’re going to notice that it doesn’t have me having read over 42 books yet this year- I’ve actually read 79, but I haven’t been keeping up with putting them all into Goodreads, so I need to make sure to go in and do that at some point soon…)
