Man y’all, I’m thinking through all of the 2021 review blogs I want to write and there are a lot of them, so I think I’m going to create a series for them- hopefully I’ll be done by the middle of February, but who knows how quickly I’ll be able to write them (and the middle of February is of course assuming I publish like one a week).Read More »
Happy Saturday y’all! I read my first Christmas book of the year (Duke, Actually), and y’all it was so cute! Thank you so much to Avon and Netgalley for letting me read an eARC of it! This book came out on November 16, so make sure you go grab it as soon as you’ve read my review!

Thank you so much to Atria Books and Netgalley for letting me read an eARC of The Inheritance of Orquídea Divina! I wasn’t sure what I was going to think about this book, because some of the reviews said that it was going to be literary fantasy or magical realism and I normally have a hard time getting fully sucked into those kinds of books (100% a me issue, not a those books issue) but I didn’t have that problem with this one at all!

Thank you so much to Orbit Books and Netgalley for letting me read an eARC of the Jasmine Throne by Tasha Suri! This month has been ridiculously busy, so even though this book came out on June 8th, I finally finished it last night and OMG it was sooooo good!!!

Thank you so much to Disney-Hyperion and Netgalley for letting me read an eARC of Curse of the Specter Queen! I was never someone who watched Indiana Jones (my family was just never into them), but I love the idea of them, so the idea of a book set in the 20s in that style sounded super cool, so I was very excited to read it!

Happy Friday y’all! I’m so excited about a long weekend! Wooo for more time for reading! I was supposed to have a pool day this weekend, but it’s supposed to rain most of the weekend and be in the 60s, so definitely not pool weather, but for sure reading weather! Speaking of reading, I was transported back to Valeria this week with Royal Trouble by Jennifer Bonds (thank you so much to Entangled Amara and Netgalley for letting me read an e-ARC of this book) and man y’all, I love Valeria and this royal family. (Also, side note, this is book two in a series- if you haven’t read book 1 yet, don’t read this review- read my review for book one, then read book one, and then come back here).

Thank you so much to Crown Books for Young Readers and Netgalley for letting me read an ARC of The Ivies! This book came out on May 25th, so make sure y’all go grab it ASAP! I always find college decisions and prep and the pressure that people put on themselves for it fascinating. I mean let’s also be real, I went to a crazy public high school school that also had Ivy quotas and people battling for class rank and everyone who wanted to be competitive was taking 8-10 APs, running clubs, playing sports and instruments, and just doing everything they could (besides sabotage) to get in where they wanted. We had our Harvards, our Yales, our MITs, our Princetons, our Browns, our Stanfords, a bunch of Dukes, along with all of the other crazy schools you can think of (I grew up in a college town, next to another university, with lots of people whose parents taught at one of the universities or worked in either of the university hospitals or big tech/pharma that we have around here, so lots of privilege and lots of opportunity for people to do some of those things they need to in order to go to one of those big name schools). Anyway, enough about my high school- let’s talk about The Ivies!

Thank you so much to Entanged Amara and Netgalley for letting me read an eARC of A Surrealist Affair by Jacqueline Corcoran! The premise of this book sounded so cool- it reminded me so much of that show White Collar, and y’all, I loved White Collar. Art Crimes is such an underrated and super cool part of the FBI and there should definitely be more books about it! A Surrealist Affair, unfortunately, was not my favorite.

Thank you so much to Entangled Brazen and Netgalley for letting me read an eARC of Wet and Reckless! This is the fourth book in the Private Pleasures series and I haven’t read any of the other books in the series, but I didn’t feel like I was missing out. I did feel like this book was prepping for the next book in the series really well, so hopefully I’m right in my prediction for who that book is going to be about (but I’m definitely not going to tell y’all, because what if I’m wrong haha).
