Newest Netgalley Approval: Make Up Break Up

Hey Y’all! Happy Monday! I hope everyone had an amazing weekend! My weekend was great because on Friday, my request to review one of my most anticipated romance novels of 2021, Make Up Break Up by Lily Menon, was approved! Woohoo!!! I cannot wait to read this book (as soon as I finish the other ARCs I have to read on my list, since I, you know, try to read them chronologically if I can, but I may have to make an exception for this one…). Since this is one of my most anticipated books of 2021, I figured let me give y’all a quick promo in case you haven’t heard about this one yet so you can add it to your TBRs (because you definitely want to), so without further ado:Read More »

July Wrap Up

Happy August y’all! I haven’t written a wrap up post in so long but this month I was like you know what, I read so many great books in July- I have to talk about them! I’m going to have reviews going out about some of these books later this month, so keep an eye out for those (I’ll make sure to call them out). Let’s get started!Read More »

Blast from the Past Series: 2017 DNFs

Happy Wednesday y’all and welcome to another edition of my Blast from the Past series! Today we’re going to talk about the books I DNF’d in 2017- Oof I feel like this list is going to get some hate because I DNF’d some reallllyyyy popular books back in 2017. Please don’t hate me too much. I generally try to finish every book I start or I put it aside for a while and then get to it later, but these 4 books are ones that I tried and I just couldn’t keep going with (but as always, these are just my opinions and I know others have loved all of these books so much, so if you haven’t picked them up yet, for sure give them a try!)Read More »

Chapter Sampler Review: Lore by Alexandra Bracken

OMG y’all I freaking LOVE Greek mythology and I freaking love Alexandra Bracken so when she started teasing Lore forever ago, I was hooked right away. When Disney/Hyperion put Lore on NetGalley, I jumped on that request button so fast, I didn’t even realize that it was just a chapter sampler (although I don’t think they had actually marketed it as a chapter sampler anywhere, so I’m sure I’m not the only one who was confused). Anyway, I was approved for the chapter sampler and in my approval email, they said that they’re going to put the full ARC on there in August/September sometime, so your girl is 100% going to put in a request for the full ARC then (I probably won’t be approved for it, but a girl can hope!)- so thank you so much to Disney/Hyperion and NetGalley for giving me a chance to review this sampler early!

I figured that since I have this sampler, I might as well read it and tell y’all all about it (especially since it’s one of my most anticipated books for 2021, so I need to make sure it’s really high on your lists too)! So let’s get started-Read More »

First Line Friday: July 24, 2020

first-lines-friday

It’s Friday again! Woop woop! I hope everyone’s been having a pretty good week- mine has been pretty decent… nothing too special, but I have been jamming out to Taylor Swift’s new album today and I made my friend Grace an amazing Spotify playlist earlier this week, so that was fun (if y’all are interested in knowing what’s on Grace’s playlist or on the birthday playlist I made Bee last week, drop me a comment and maybe I’ll make a post about them next week!)

First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?

  • Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
  • Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
  • Finally… reveal the book!

Now, onto the line!

Goodreads 2020 Reads vs Real 2020 Real Reads

Happy Thursday y’all! This year, I’ve been really bad at making sure that my read books actually match up with the books in my reading challenge on Goodreads- like my Goodreads says that I’ve only read 41 books, but in reality, I just finished book number 81 yesterday, which is crazy! Most of the time, my issue is just that I don’t feel like opening up Goodreads and finding the book I’m reading on there to state that I’m reading it, but writing it in my reading progress note on my phone/laptop is so easy!

Let’s go ahead and compare what’s on them, shall we? Read More »

Blast From the Past Series: My 2017 Least Favorites

Ahh time for my least favorites of 2017. This is one of the posts that I’m the most scared to post because I know how subjective these kinds of things are and I’m so worried about getting a bunch of hate, but at the same time, these are only my opinions and I know that there are other people who loved these books. This doesn’t mean that I think they’re trash or anything, this just means that I didn’t enjoy them or they weren’t books that I would tell Bee that she needs to read. Again, take my thoughts with a grain of salt, because I know of SO MANY people who liked every one of the books I’m going to list below. Read More »

July Library Holds and Checkouts Update

Hey y’all! I’m so fortunate to live somewhere where there’s an amazing library so close to my house! The Chapel Hill Public Library is less than 5 miles from my house and they have so many physical copies of books and their e-book library through overdrive/Libby is AMAZING as well! It’s definitely made it so much easier for me to read as much as I do- I’ve checked out/read 42 e-books so far this year and 3 physical books and I have 11 books on hold right now (5 physical and 6 e-books) and 8 books checked out (5 physical and 3 e-books). (Also, I know if you follow me on Goodreads, you’re going to notice that it doesn’t have me having read over 42 books yet this year- I’ve actually read 79, but I haven’t been keeping up with putting them all into Goodreads, so I need to make sure to go in and do that at some point soon…)

First Line Fridays: July 17, 2020

first-lines-friday

Happy Friday y’all! Today’s First Line Friday is dedicated to my best friend, Bee, because Sunday is her birthday! Woop woop! She’s one of the main reasons I’m book blogging/bookstagramming/reading as much as I am these days- if we hadn’t talked about our mutual love of YA fantasy in 2015 when we became friends, I don’t think I would have picked any of these things back up again.
