Thank you so much to Tor Teen and Netgalley for letting me read a copy of Warriors of Wing and Flame early! I was able to read the e-ARC of book one in this duology (Sisters of Shadow and Light) last year and I liked it, so I was really excited to see how the story continued/was wrapped up in book 2!
Thank you so much to Wednesday Books and NetGalley for letting me read A Golden Fury early! I was able to grab a copy of this one on that day in the summer when Wednesday Books had a bunch of it’s fall new releases out on read now and I’m super excited I did! I’ve always thought that alchemy was really interesting (it’s the chemistry nerd in me- I love that kind of stuff) so anything like that gets me going for sure and this book was no different! There wasn’t enough alchemy for me, honestly, but I’ll tell y’all all about that in a bit.
Thank you so much to Wednesday Books and NetGalley for letting me read Hush early! This was one of the books that Wednesday Books had available on that day during the summer when so many of their great fall releases were read now and I’m super glad I was able to grab it! Overall, Hush was a fun read that’s definitely really different from most of the other books I’ve read recently, but I had a hard time connecting with the story in places, which led to me losing the plot and storyline decently often.
Thank you so much to Inkyard Press for asking me to be a part of the blog tour for Kingdom of Sea and Stone by Mara Rutherford! This is the sequel to Crown of Coral and Pearl, which I read last year and it was so good, so I was super excited to read this book, especially with the way Crown of Coral and Pearl ended and I definitely was not disappointed in Kingdom of Sea and Stone at all!
Thank you so much to Inkyard press for reaching out to me to read/review an e-ARC of The Glass Queen early! I read an ARC of The Evil Queen last year, and while there was so much potential in that book, I feel like execution was lacking. In this book, there was also so much potential and while it was executed better than The Evil Queen, there were still a lot of parts that gave me whiplash, but overall, I did think it was a fun read.
Happy Friday y’all! Man, I have been so bad at updating on here, and I want to say it’s because I’ve been feverishly reading… but I haven’t. Tik Tok has taken over my life again and I’m doing some part time consulting for my cycling studio (I’m helping them with their marketing, and I honestly love it so much) and I’m helping one of my aunt’s friends’ daughters in her job search (she just graduated from college and wants a job in marketing but has no idea how to get one and I’ve worked in marketing since 2015, so Avni to the rescue), so busy busy. I’m hoping things will calm down a little so I can read and post more starting next week, but we’ll see. (Also, cuffing season is about to start, so of course I’m all over the dating apps 🤦♀️ We need more hours in the day.)
Thank you so much to Netgalley and Fierce Reads/Farrar, Straus and Giroux/Macmillan Children’s Publishing for making Black Wings Beating “Read Now” on Negalley for 24 hours back in either late July or early August! This book came out in 2018 and I’ve been meaning to read it ever since then but just never got around to it, so this forced me to finally get around to it and man am I glad I did! I also checked out book 2 from the library already and I’m SO ready to read it and to read book 3 (which released on September 1st!).
It’s the second to last entry of my Blast from the Past series! I can’t believe that it’s almost over!
In 2019, I set a goal of 65 books instead of my normal 75 to try and limit myself so that I would go do more things than just read and while I didn’t limit myself to 65 books, I definitely read less than in 2018 by reading 82 books. Read More »
OMG y’all- thank you sooooooo much to Inkyard Press for asking me to be a part of the Queen of Volts blog tour (and their Fall Reads Blog tour in general)! And thank you so much to Inkyard and Netgalley for letting me read a copy of it early! Queen of Volts came out last week, on September 1st, with about a million other books, so make sure you go check it out! I absolutely loved Ace of Shades and King of Fools, so I knew I was going to love Queen of Volts, but did I know just how much I was going to love it? Definitely not. Now, just as a warning, since Queen of Volts is the third book in this trilogy, there are going to be spoilers for books one and two in my review, so if you haven’t read Ace of Shades or King of Fools, one, what are you doing? Go read them now! And two, you probably don’t want to read my review for Queen of Volts.
Happy Wednesday y’all! Last Wednesday, I took a break from posting Blast from the Past because I was a part of the blog tour for Where Dreams Descend! We’re back now, and we’re on the home stretch of this series! We just have the 2019 posts and then we’re done with Blast from the Past! I’ll have to come up with another series next, because I’ve really enjoyed doing this.
Ah 2019, what a great year. 2019 was the year that I tried to reach more of a balance with reading and life, and I think I really accomplished it! I watched more TV, I started going to more workout classes that I loved, I hung out with friends more, I started dating more (although the dating realllyyyy ramped up in 2020), I went to Harry Potter world for the second time (the first time was in 2010, so this was my first time going to Diagon Alley!), I went to the UK with Bee, my other really good friend got the best little corgi pup, and I had my wisdom teeth removed. All great things! Reading wise, it was a pretty good year too! I read a lot of different kinds of books and looking back over my list on Goodreads, finding my top 5 was pretty difficult, as usual. Thank you so much to Netgalley and Wednesday Books for letting me read Fable early! I was able to jump on the opportunity to read/review Fable when Wednesday Books was doing that incredible Read Now deal on Netgalley earlier in the summer when they had like 5 amazing upcoming titles turned to Read Now and while I wasn’t the biggest fan of Sky in the Deep and I haven’t been able to finish the Girl the Sea Gave Back yet, I absolutely devoured Fable. It’s definitely my favorite Adrienne Young book by far! Fable comes out today, so make sure you pick it up ASAP!
